Default Toyota FT-86 Price - Spinout

FT-86 TO Raise The Roof - On Its Price Tag

There's little debate that the FT-86 is a much-needed blast of adrenaline for a tuning industry in need of a jolt. The Toyotaru sports a sleek, sculpted coupe body, Subaru Boxer engine and RWD. But the car isn't even on the road and a rumor has the price going up. The previous best-case-scenario target of $20,000 has been raised to $23,000.

The reasons for this include development costs, production costs, Toyota upping the target age demographic from 30 to 40 to who knows what. Will $3,000 make a difference to struggling enthusiasts? Probably to some degree, but the bottom line is the FT-86 is the only all-new rear-drive platform we have anywhere near the pipeline, so let's get this show on the road.

as long as this fucker has a subaru boxer engine, with a turbo, and either AWD or RWD....we're good.

i wish they hadnt put the boxer motor in it, robs HP from your engine... a straight 6 would have been nice... or even a nice 4 bangah like the 240's rb20det or the KA24DE...
something with an aftermarket support like the 7mgte or the 2jzgte...

How can an engine rob HP from itself? The boxer is actually very efficient as evidence of the HP, TQ, and MPG numbers. The boxer design doesn't waste a motion like most other designs do. I would prefer a Toyota engine, but I can live with a boxer. Also, 3 grand isn't very much money if they are looking at a different demographic. It may be enough to put out some teen buyers though. Still comparable with the Genesis Coupe, which is the benchmark right now.
